Lucho Percussion
With over a decade of experience as a professional musician, I specialize in Cajon and percussion, drawing from a wide range of musical styles including Spanish, Latin, Latin Jazz, and World Music. My career has seen me perform on prestigious stages like the Monterey Jazz Fest, SFJAZZ Center, and Outside Lands. As a founding member of dynamic band projects such as Barrio Manouche, La Mandanga Band, and Ragamenco, I have contributed to unique musical collaborations, touring, recording, and performing across diverse venues.
My dedication to the craft has led me to study under world-renowned percussion masters. From 2012 to 2015, I trained with Brazilian master Marcos Odara, immersing myself in African rhythms, samba, and other traditional forms. I have also attended master classes in Flamenco Cajón with Guillermo García "Guillecajon" in Madrid (2020) and Israel Fernández "El Piraña" in San Francisco (2018), enhancing my technique and artistry in Flamenco and beyond.
As a passionate educator, I offer group and private Cajon lessons to students of all levels. I've led workshops like the online Cajon sessions at Lark Camp and have taught after-school music programs for children, inspiring young learners to embrace rhythm and music. Whether performing or teaching, I strive to create meaningful connections through the universal language of music.
